How Your Kids Can Become Junior Rangers

scenic Smoky Mountain viewFamilies who visit Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge always make time to take in the sights and sounds of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The national park is a great place for adults and children to hike and enjoy the great outdoors.

If you have kids between the ages of 5 and 12, the kids can learn while the whole family has fun in the Smokies! Start by picking up a Junior Ranger program booklet at any of the national park visitor centers. The booklets cost $2.50 and will explain the entire Junior Ranger program. Inside the booklet, you will find a list of activities that have to be completed to become a Junior Ranger.

The first step is to complete all of the activities in the booklet. Make sure the booklet you purchase is for the appropriate age group, so the child can easily read through the things to do. Parents are encouraged to help the kids throughout the Junior Ranger process.

The final task is to help the national park environment by picking up litter. Cleaning up litter will help guarantee that no animals are harmed by trash that has been left behind. When you have completed the final task, take your booklet to Sugarlands or Oconaluftee visitor center to receive your badge from a real park ranger!

When your kids are completing the activities in their Junior Ranger booklets, you will want to stay close to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. At Amazing Views Cabin Rentals, families can relax in one of the fully equipped Gatlinburg cabins. From each of the cabins, you will experience stunning mountain views.
