Taking the whole family to a museum is a great vacation activity, especially on a rainy day. Pigeon Forge is home to a number of superb museums that are dedicated to history, music, cars, and other fun topics. To help you make the most of your getaway, Amazing Views Cabin Rentals has put together a guide to seven of the best Pigeon Forge museums.
1. Hollywood Wax Museum
The Hollywood Wax Museum is filled with lifelike wax statues of all your favorite movie stars. Guests can pose for a selfie with Bradley Cooper, Natalie Portman, Brad Pitt, Marilyn, Monroe, John Wayne, and other celebrities from the past and present. The statues are so good, your photos might even fool your friends!
2. Alcatraz East Crime Museum
The Alcatraz East Crime Museum is another one of the best Pigeon Forge museums. This popular attraction is filled with interactive exhibits related to crime and crime fighting, including a safe cracking game, a simulated shooting range, and a CSI lab. Alcatraz East is also home to artifacts from some of the most famous moments in American crime history, like O.J. Simpson’s Ford Bronco, John Dillinger’s death mask, and Bonnie and Clyde’s getaway car.
3. Titanic Museum Attraction
The Titanic Museum Attraction is a can’t miss stop for anyone who loves history (or James Cameron’s Titanic movie). As you make your way through this unique museum, you will see over 400 artifacts from the actual RMS Titanic and full size recreations of rooms from the ship. The centerpiece of the museum is the ship’s Grand Staircase, which was lovingly recreated by studying the Titanic’s original blueprints.
4. Chasing Rainbows Museum (at Dollywood)
No visit to Dollywood is complete without a stop at Chasing Rainbows. This museum is all about the life and career of Dolly Parton. Guests will have the chance to see some of Dolly’s favorite dresses, her numerous Grammy awards, handwritten lyrics, and countless photos of Dolly from over the years.
5. Southern Gospel Museum and Hall of Fame (at Dollywood)
Dollywood is also home to the Southern Gospel Museum and Hall of Fame. Gospel fans will love learning about the pioneers of this popular musical genre. Highlights of the museum include a replica of the Blackwood Brothers’ first tour bus, a singing animatronic quartet sponsored by Bill Gaither, and bronze plaques of all the artists inducted into the Hall of Fame.
6. Beyond the Lens Family Fun
Beyond the Lens is a newer Pigeon Forge museum that includes a number of fun exhibits for the whole family. It allows visitors to explore pop culture with games, photo ops, and exhibits. Some of the exhibits you can expect to find are the Search for Bigfoot, where you’ll get to explore all the sightings of Bigfoot and Sasquatch in the United States, and the Celebrity Gossip Room, where you can catch up on all the popular celebrity talk. There’s also an Alien Egg Pit, a JFK Conspiracy room, a red carpet, and more.
WonderWorks is a museum attraction that’s great for the whole family! This indoor attraction combines both education and entertainment for a fun adventure in Pigeon Forge. There are more than 100 hands-on exhibits for visitors to explore. Walk through the different Wonder Zones and learn about natural disasters, space, light & sound, and more. After you’re done learning, have some fun on the indoor ropes course or in the laser tag arena!
