The Smoky Mountains certainly have no shortage of natural beauty to witness when you come to visit the area. These waterfalls in the Smoky Mountains are perfect for taking a photo with friends and family, sitting and listening to the sound of rushing water, and plenty more. And, they do not all require long hikes to visit! Here are some of the easily accessible waterfalls in the Smoky Mountains to check out when you visit:
1. Cataract Falls
The first waterfall on our list is among the easiest hikes, so it can be ideal for groups with young kids or older adults. The roundtrip is 0.7 miles and the path is not particularly challenging. Once you reach the waterfall, you will see the 40-foot falls following the path of Fighting Creek. Please keep in mind that the National Park Service has received reports of injuries from visitors climbing around the falls, so they request that nobody attempt to climb the area around the waterfall.
2. Baskins Creek Falls
Another of the relatively easy waterfalls in the Smoky Mountains to reach is Baskins Creek Falls, although the path is longer than the hike to Cataract Falls. The roundtrip is 3 miles and begins with a short climb, but then the path levels out for most of the way, until a dip leading to the falls. Keep in mind that portions of the path may be wet or slippery after heavy rains. As for the waterfall itself, Baskins Creek Falls stands 40 feet tall and visitors report it being well worth the hike.
3. The Place of a Thousand Drips
If you are looking for waterfalls in the Smoky Mountains that do not require any hiking to view, the Place of a Thousand Drips is ideal for you! It is located just off the side of the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, so you can literally see the waterfall without having to get out of your vehicle. Although small, this waterfall is very pretty and can get fairly substantial after a heavy rain!
4. Meigs Falls
Another easy waterfall to see from your vehicle is Meigs Falls, which are located near Cades Cove. There is a pull-out area by the waterfall, making it easy to stop and view this beautiful sight! This can be a great addition to a day exploring Cades Cove, especially if you do not want to make the trek to Abrams Falls.
