Though the max elevation of Andrews Bald is only 900 feet, those who hike to the top can see some of the prettiest orchids in the south. Through June, the open meadow at the end of this trail is alive with vibrant spring colors. Although the trail is considered easy, there are rocks and small boulders to look out for along the way.

At less than a mile long, the Cove Hardwood Self-Guided Nature Tour loop is one of the best places to view flowers in the entire park. This wildflower walk contains a wide range of wildflower species in a short and easy trip just south of the Sugarlands Visitor Center.

Schoolhouse Gap

This easy trail features a quiet forest hike with spring wildflowers from pink lady slippers to sun drops. This is also one of the most convenient wildflower trails as it begins between Cades Cove and Townsend.

Spence Field

Described as one of the most spectacular displays of spring color by hikers, Spence Field is a challenging and long trail located at the Cades Cove picnic area. This trail is less visited than shorter and less difficult hiking options, but it’s absolutely worth the climb to the top.
