1. Watch The Island Show Fountain
One of the top attractions in town is The Island in Pigeon Forge, a massive shopping, dining and entertainment complex that is great for a cheap night out! This is because The Island offers free parking and free admission with all attractions on a pay-as-you-go basis. One of the free attractions and highlights of the complex is The Island Show Fountain, a spectacular presentation of water dance and light that is perfectly choreographed to 14 pieces of music! The fountain show features more than 89 motion-based nozzles that create the show’s lively movements. The presentations take place daily every 30 minutes from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., beginning at the top of each hour.
2. Visit the Historic Old Mill
Another one of the free things to do in Pigeon Forge is visit the Historic Old Mill, where you can take a step back in time to watch workers grind grains with the same equipment that was used during the mill’s construction in 1830! During your visit, you will learn how the giant stones are turned by harnessing the river’s power and hear stories about the mill’s history through nearly two centuries. After touring The Old Mill, explore the rest of The Old Mill Square, where you can get a sweet treat in The Old Mill Candy Kitchen or purchase a unique souvenir at The Old Mill General Store!
3. Hike the Trails at Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Many folks are pleasantly surprised to hear that the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of the few national parks where no entrance fee is charged! This means that you can enjoy hundreds of hiking trails in the park, ranging from easy kid-friendly hikes to challenging trails for expert hikers. One of the toughest tasks is picking which trail you want to hike, as the park has everything from waterfalls and wildflowers to old-growth forests and historical buildings!
